Brazilian illustrator wears a skirt to protest for better working conditions
The Brazilian illustrator André Amaral da Silva wore a skirt at work to protest against the poor labour conditions he and his colleagues face at his office, reported the news website O Globo.
“For two years, I’ve been working in a building with no air conditioning, and no success to gain sympathy of the managers, so I decided to come to work wearing skirts,” said Silva.
The photo of the protest he posted on Facebook went viral. In four hours it was shared by 3.5 thousand of other users of the social platform and received more than 5,8 thousand clicks of like.
O Globo didn’t reveal the name of Silva's employers, but reported that the doorman of the office block where he works in the centre of Rio de Janeiro tried to stop him from getting into the building and sent him to his superior, a Military Police Colonel.
The police officer surprisingly granted him access with no further hassle, explaining that the building bans shorts, but not skirts.
"In skirts you can let anybody in," supposedly said the Colonel.
